About Tim

Tim Rollins was born and raised in Mendota, Illinois.  His father was an auto mechanic/auto body repairman who eventually opened his own repair shop, and his mother was a secretary/bookkeeper for the superintendent of Mendota’s elementary school district.  He graduated from Mendota High School and put himself through the University of Illinois with a federal Army ROTC scholarship.  After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics, and receiving an educational deferment from the Army, Tim put himself through Harvard Law School with a combination of scholarships, work-study and student loans.  While in law school, he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review with our most recently appointed Supreme Court Justice, Elena Kagan (who was a year behind him). After law school, Tim went on active duty with the U.S. Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, stationed in the Pentagon and Washington, D.C., where all of his assignments involved assisting the U.S. Army and Department of Defense with government procurement law and Freedom of Information Act law. While on active duty Tim was twice awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and three times was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.

After four-and-a-half years with the Army, and with three small children, Tim returned to the Midwest to raise his family and begin his private law career in Rockford.  As a partner with WilliamsMcCarthy, Tim has assisted clients with complex business transactions, finding creative solutions to satisfy what are often opposing interests. He also has experience handling contract, employment and labor law issues.
